Dialogue on Indonesian Workers Shortage

Jaya Tiasa coordinated a dialogue session on the current shortage of Indonesian workers in Sarawak on 19 February 2011. Those who attended the dialogue session were Jaya Tiasa’s Human Resource Assistant General Manager, Mr. Vincent Sia Chik Foo, Secretary of Consul General Indonesia, Bapak Alexandri Legawa, Acting Consul General Indonesia, Bapak Rafail Walangitan and Legal advisor of Sarawak Timber Association, Miss Peggy Chew.

The objective of the dialogue session was to identify the existing problems, difficulties or barriers which have caused the shortage of supply of Indonesian workers in palm oil plantations, timber, construction and other sectors in Sarawak. In addition to that, it also aimed to gather more information concerning the total number of Indonesian workers needed by industries in Sarawak.
